About My Mama Recipes

My name is Jack Morgan, and I’m the creator of My Mama Recipes.

This website is a personal food publication built around one simple idea: the kind of cooking that starts at home and stays with you for life.

My Mama Recipes isn’t about professional kitchens or perfect presentation. It’s about meals that bring people together, recipes you return to again and again, and the comfort that comes from food made with care.

Where My Cooking Story Began

My journey with food began in my mother’s kitchen.

One of my earliest memories is standing beside her when I was about eight years old, balanced on a small wooden stool so I could reach the counter. She was making her Sunday chicken pot pie — a dish she never measured and never wrote down.

I remember how she let me pinch the edges of the dough, even when it wasn’t neat. I remember the smell of butter and thyme slowly filling the house, and how the kitchen always felt like the warmest place to be.

At one point, she smiled and said something that stayed with me:
“Cooking isn’t about perfection. It’s about making people feel at home.”

That moment shaped the way I think about food to this day.

Learning Through Real Cooking

As I grew older, I started cooking for myself — and I made plenty of mistakes.

I burned casseroles, overcooked meat, and once confused sugar with salt while baking. But every mistake taught me something important. I learned that good cooking comes from paying attention to timing, heat, and the order of small steps that don’t seem important until you miss them.

Instead of giving up, I repeated the same dishes again and again, adjusting one thing at a time until the results finally became consistent.

Why I Created My Mama Recipes

I created My Mama Recipes as a place to document and share the kind of food I grew up with — homestyle dishes inspired by family kitchens and everyday American comfort food.

This site exists to help home cooks prepare meals that feel familiar, dependable, and worth repeating, whether it’s a simple weeknight dinner or a dish meant to be shared.

How Recipes Are Developed

Every recipe on My Mama Recipes comes from hands-on home cooking.

I prepare each dish multiple times, record the steps and timing as they are actually used, and refine the process until the results are consistent and reliable.

If a recipe doesn’t work the same way more than once, it doesn’t get published.

My Approach to Cooking

I believe good cooking should be practical and accessible.

I focus on clear instructions, realistic timing, and recipes that make sense for real kitchens and real schedules. My goal is to help readers feel confident cooking at home, without needing professional training or special equipment.
