Description

A warm, sweet-savory blueberry grilled cheese made with melted cheddar, crisp sourdough, and a bright homemade blueberry compote for a comforting twist.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 4 slices sourdough bread
  • 4 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded white cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons blueberry jam (optional)

Instructions

  1. Simmer blueberries, sugar, and lemon until thickened into a compote.
  2. Butter the outside of each sourdough slice.
  3. Spread blueberry compote on one slice of bread.
  4. Top with shredded white cheddar and close the sandwich.
  5. Grill over medium heat until golden and cheese is melted.
  6. Let rest one minute before slicing and serving.

Notes

  1. If using frozen blueberries, simmer a little longer to thicken.
  2. For a tangier flavor, add a touch more lemon to the compote.
