Ingredients

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.

Gradually whisk in the warm milk until the mixture thickens slightly.

Notes
For a gluten-free version, use cornstarch instead of flour.
Add beer in place of half the milk for a “beer cheese” twist.
