Description

Warm, tender chocolate chip scones with golden edges, melty chocolate pockets, and a soft, buttery crumb made for cozy breakfasts or weekend baking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Coarse sugar for topping

Instructions

  1. Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  2. Cut cold butter into the dry mixture until pea-sized pieces remain.
  3. Whisk heavy cream, egg, and vanilla together, then pour into dry mixture.
  4. Fold gently until a soft dough forms.
  5. Press dough into a thick disc and cut into 8 wedges.
  6. Chill wedges for 10 minutes if dough feels warm.
  7. Bake at 400°F until golden and set, about 15–18 minutes.
  8. Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  1. Chill dough before baking for a higher rise.
  2. Use mini and regular chocolate chips for more even distribution.
  3. Replace cream with whole milk for a lighter texture.
