Description

Soft, vibrant blue Cookie Monster Cinnamon Rolls filled with buttery cinnamon sugar and crushed cookies, finished with creamy icing for a playful brunch treat.


Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Blue gel food coloring
  • 4 tablespoons butter, softened
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • ½ cup crushed cookies
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 3 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 12 tablespoons milk


Instructions

  1. Combine yeast and warm milk until foamy.
  2. Stir in sugar, melted butter, egg, and blue food coloring.
  3. Add flour and salt, knead until smooth, and let rise.
  4. Roll dough into a rectangle.
  5. Spread softened butter, sprinkle cinnamon sugar and crushed cookies.
  6. Roll dough into a log and slice.
  7. Place rolls in a pan and bake until lightly golden.
  8. Mix cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla for icing.
  9. Frost warm rolls and top with cookie crumbs.

Notes

  1. Tint the dough to your preferred shade of blue.
  2. Use any cookie style for the filling.
  3. For gooier rolls, place them closely in the pan.
