Description

This Crock Pot French Dip delivers tender shredded beef, rich homemade au jus, and perfectly toasted rolls for an effortless, comforting slow cooker meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 lb chuck roast
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 6 hoagie rolls
  • 6 slices provolone or Swiss cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. Sear the chuck roast for a deeper flavor, then place it into the Crock Pot.
  2. Add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, onion soup mix, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, oregano, and pepper.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 7–9 hours until the beef is fork-tender.
  4. Remove the roast, shred or slice it, and strain the cooking liquid to create the au jus.
  5. Toast hoagie rolls with butter, fill them with shredded beef, and top with provolone or Swiss.
  6. Broil briefly until the cheese melts and serve with hot au jus for dipping.

Notes

  1. Store leftover beef with some au jus to keep it moist.
  2. Reheat gently with added broth for best texture.
  3. Use gluten-free rolls if needed for dietary preferences.
