Description

This Earl Grey Lavender Milkshake blends creamy vanilla ice cream with Earl Grey infused milk and a hint of floral lavender for a soothing, café-style treat you can easily make at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 Earl Grey tea bags or 1 tablespoon loose-leaf Earl Grey tea
  • 1 teaspoon culinary-grade dried lavender
  • 2 cups vanilla ice cream
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons granulated sugar or honey
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest or 1 tablespoon fresh orange juice (optional)
  • Whipped cream for topping (optional)
  • Lavender buds and orange zest twist for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk in a small saucepan over low to medium heat until it is steaming but not boiling.
  2. Add the Earl Grey tea and dried lavender to the warm milk, cover, and let steep for about 5 minutes, then strain out the tea and lavender and chill the infused milk in the refrigerator.
  3. Add the chilled infused milk, vanilla ice cream, sugar or honey, and optional orange zest or juice to a blender.
  4. Blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy, adjusting thickness by adding more ice cream for a thicker shake or a splash of milk for a thinner one.
  5. Pour the milkshake into chilled glasses, top with whipped cream if desired, garnish with lavender buds and an orange twist, and serve immediately.

Notes

  1. Always use culinary-grade lavender to avoid bitterness and soap-like flavors.
  2. If you are sensitive to floral flavors, start with a smaller amount of lavender and increase to taste.
  3. You can infuse the milk a day in advance and keep it chilled so the milkshake comes together faster.
  4. For a stronger tea flavor, steep the Earl Grey slightly longer, but do not boil the milk or it may develop a cooked taste.
  5. To make a vegan version, use plant-based milk such as oat or almond milk and a dairy-free vanilla ice cream while sweetening with maple syrup or agave.
