Description
Easy Mexican Brownies are a rich, fudgy twist on the classic dessert, spiced with cinnamon and cayenne for a warm, bold flavor. Inspired by traditional Mexican ingredients, these brownies offer the perfect balance between sweet comfort and subtle heat.
Ingredients
-
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
-
1 ½ cups granulated sugar
-
3 large eggs
-
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
-
¾ cup all-purpose flour
-
¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
-
1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
-
¼ to ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjustable to taste)
-
½ teaspoon salt
-
½ teaspoon baking powder
-
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
-
Optional: flaky sea salt for topping
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or grease it.
-
In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter and sugar.
-
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in vanilla.
-
Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, cinnamon, cayenne, salt, and baking powder in another bowl.
-
Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until just combined.
-
Fold in chocolate chips. Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
-
Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs.
-
Let brownies cool completely before slicing. Optionally, sprinkle flaky sea salt on top after baking.
Notes
Don’t overmix the batter to maintain a fudgy texture.
Room temperature eggs blend better and create an even bake.
Beat sugar and eggs thoroughly for a shiny, crackly top.
Allow to cool fully before slicing for cleaner cuts.
Try variations like orange zest, espresso powder, or toasted nuts for added depth.
