  • Author: Jack Morgan
  • Total Time: 3 hours 30 minutes (includes cooling & setting time)
  • Yield: 24 small squares 1x

Description

This rich and indulgent homemade German Chocolate Fudge combines deep chocolate flavor with sweet coconut and toasted pecans. Smooth, velvety, and melt-in-your-mouth, it’s inspired by the classic German Chocolate Cake and makes for a perfect gift or a special dessert treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • High-quality semisweet or dark chocolate (60–70% cocoa)

  • 1 can of sweetened condensed milk

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 cup marshmallow cream

  • 1 cup toasted pecans, chopped

  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut

Instructions

  • Prep: Line a square baking pan with parchment paper. Toast chopped pecans at 350°F for 5–7 minutes until golden. Set aside.

  • Melt Base: In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine chocolate, sweetened condensed milk, butter, and sugar over medium heat. Stir constantly until melted and smooth.

  • Add Cream & Flavor: Mix in marshmallow cream and continue stirring until fully incorporated.

  • Fold in Add-ins: Remove from heat. Gently fold in toasted pecans and shredded coconut.

  • Set the Fudge: Pour into prepared pan. Smooth the top with an offset spatula. Let cool at room temperature for 30–45 minutes, then refrigerate for 2–3 hours until firm.

  • Cut & Serve: Once set, cut into clean squares. Serve or store.

Notes

Use a candy thermometer for accurate temperature control (soft-ball stage ~234–240°F).

Stir gently and avoid scraping the sides to prevent graininess.

For variations, try adding dried fruit, liqueur, or caramel swirls.

Store between parchment layers in airtight containers to avoid sticking.
