Description

Soft, rich, bakery-style gourmet chewy cookies with crisp edges, gooey centers, and deep caramel flavor created by brown sugar, butter, and chocolate chunks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chunks

Instructions

  1. Cream the softened butter with the brown sugar and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Mix in the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla until combined.
  3. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
  4. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture just until combined.
  5. Stir in the chocolate chunks evenly throughout the dough.
  6. Portion the dough into balls and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Bake at 350°F until edges are set and centers remain slightly soft.
  8. Cool on the baking sheet to finish setting and achieve a chewy texture.

Notes

  1. Chill the dough for 1 hour if you prefer thicker cookies.
  2. Do not overmix the dough to maintain a chewy center.
  3. Use chocolate chunks instead of chips for a more gourmet melt.
