Ingredients
1½ lbs ground beef
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped (optional)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
½ cup ketchup
2 tbsp tomato paste
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp yellow mustard
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp chili powder
Salt and pepper to taste
6 hamburger buns
Optional toppings: sliced pickles, shredded cheese, coleslaw
Instructions
In a skillet, brown ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess grease.
Add onion, garlic, and bell pepper. Cook 2–3 minutes until softened.
Transfer to the slow cooker. Add tomato sauce, ketchup, tomato paste, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
Cover and cook on low for 4–6 hours or high for 2–3 hours.
Stir before serving. Spoon mixture onto buns and add optional toppings.
Notes
Add red pepper flakes or hot sauce for more heat.
Leftover filling works well in wraps, quesadillas, or on baked potatoes.
Toast the buns for extra texture and flavor.
