Description

Hamburger Jazz is a creamy, baked beef and rice casserole that brings nostalgic comfort to your table. Made with ground beef, tomatoes, rice, and melted cheese, it’s the perfect hearty meal for busy weeknights or cozy family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup (200 g) long-grain rice, cooked
  • 1 can (14.5 oz / 411 g) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (10.5 oz / 298 g) condensed cream of mushroom or tomato soup
  • 1 cup (240 ml) beef broth
  • 1 cup (100 g) shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tsp (5 g) salt
  • ½ tsp (2 g) black pepper
  • ½ tsp (1 g) paprika (optional)
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) olive oil or butter

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and minced garlic; sauté until fragrant and translucent.
  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain any excess grease.
  3. Stir in cooked rice, diced tomatoes, condensed soup, beef broth, salt, pepper, and paprika. Mix until well combined.
  4. Transfer the mixture into a greased casserole dish. Top with shredded cheese.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  1. Substitute cream of mushroom soup with cream of chicken or a homemade white sauce if preferred.
  2. For a lighter version, use ground turkey and reduced-fat cheese.
  3. Add extra vegetables like bell peppers or corn for more texture and nutrition.
  4. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
