Description
This decadent stuffed French toast is a breakfast dream come true. It is filled with a rich strawberry cheesecake mixture and cooked to golden perfection. Perfect for brunches, romantic breakfasts, or anytime you want to indulge in a sweet, creamy, fruit-filled morning treat.
Ingredients
1½ loaves of French bread (about 20 slices), cut 1 inch thick
2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
16 oz cream cheese, softened
1 cup granulated sugar (divided use)
6 large eggs
1 cup whole milk
½ cup heavy cream
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp unsalted butter (for skillet)
Optional toppings: powdered sugar, maple syrup, whipped cream, extra fresh strawberries
Instructions
Prepare Filling: Mash ½ cup strawberries. In a bowl, beat 8 oz of cream cheese with 2 tbsp of sugar and 1 tsp of vanilla until smooth. Fold in mashed strawberries.
Assemble: Spread cheesecake mixture between 2 slices of bread to form a sandwich. Repeat with the remaining bread.
Egg Mixture: In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, heavy cream, 1 tsp vanilla, and remaining sugar. Dip each sandwich until thoroughly soaked.
Cook: Heat butter in skillet over medium heat. Cook each sandwich for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown. Transfer to the oven at 250°F to keep warm.
Serve: Dust with powdered sugar and top with strawberries or syrup.
Notes
Use brioche or challah for the best texture.
Filling and egg mixture can be made ahead.
Make it indulgent with Nutella or light with low-fat cream cheese.
Serve with crispy bacon or fruit salad for a full brunch spread.
Store leftovers in fridge (3 days) or freezer (2 months).
