Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef (85–90% lean)
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- ¼ cup soy sauce (low-sodium recommended)
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar or honey
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 cups cooked white rice (or jasmine rice)
- 3 green onions, sliced
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds for garnish
- Optional Add-ins:
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1 carrot, shredded
Instructions
-
Cook rice and set aside.
-
In a large skillet, heat sesame oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.
-
Stir in garlic and ginger. Add soy sauce, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef.
-
Serve the beef mixture over rice. Garnish with green onions, sesame seeds, and optional toppings like kimchi or a fried egg.
Notes
- Use tamari or coconut aminos for gluten-free.
- Swap beef for turkey, chicken, or plant-based crumbles.
- Add gochujang for extra spice.
