Description

These Korean Ground Beef Rice Bowls are quick, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with sweet, savory, and umami notes. They’re a fast and easy weeknight dinner that delivers takeout-level taste in just minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 3 cups cooked jasmine rice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 fried egg (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Cook the rice according to package instructions and keep warm.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add the ground beef.
  3. Break apart the beef with a spatula and cook until browned and slightly crisp on the edges.
  4. Drain excess fat if needed.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
  6. Pour the sauce over the beef and stir well to combine.
  7. Simmer for 3–5 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens and coats the beef.
  8. Spoon the beef mixture over rice and top with green onions, sesame seeds, and a fried egg if desired.

Notes

  1. You can prepare the beef ahead and refrigerate for up to 3 days.
  2. Use cauliflower rice for a low-carb option.
  3. Adjust spice level by increasing or omitting red pepper flakes.
  4. For extra veggies, add shredded carrots or sautéed broccoli.
