  • Author: mymamarecipes.com
  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 68 slices (serves 4–6) 1x

Description

This cheesy mozzarella cheesesteak stromboli brings together tender seasoned beef, sautéed onions and peppers, and melty mozzarella cheese—all wrapped in golden, flaky pizza dough. It’s the ultimate comfort food fusion of Italian stromboli and the classic Philly cheesesteak, perfect for weeknight dinners, gatherings, or game-day snacks.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough:

  • 1 lb store-bought or homemade pizza dough

Filling:

  • 1 lb ribeye or sirloin, thinly sliced

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced

  • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)

Cheese:

  • 1½ cups shredded low-moisture mozzarella

  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Assembly:

  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

  • Flour (for rolling dough)

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven:

    • Preheat to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • Cook Filling:

    • In a skillet, heat oil over medium-high. Sear beef until browned; remove and set aside.

    • In same pan, sauté onions, peppers, and garlic until softened. Return beef, season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Stir in Worcestershire, then let cool.

  • Prepare Dough:

    • On a floured surface, roll dough into a 10×14-inch rectangle.

  • Assemble:

    • Layer mozzarella and Parmesan (if using) down the center. Top with cooled beef mixture. Leave a 1-inch border.

    • Roll tightly from the long edge. Tuck in ends and place seam-side down on baking sheet.

  • Bake:

    • Brush with egg wash. Score 3–4 diagonal slits on top. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until golden and internal temp reaches 165°F.

  • Serve:

    • Let rest 5–10 minutes. Slice and serve with dipping sauces like marinara or garlic butter.

Notes

Let filling cool completely before assembling to prevent soggy dough.

Customize with mushrooms, provolone, pepperoncini, or spicy sauces.

Can be frozen before baking; thaw in fridge overnight before baking.
