- 1 ½ pounds breakfast sausage, cooked and crumbled
- 8 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 6 cups day-old bread, cubed
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup diced bell peppers
- ¼ cup chopped green onions
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Butter or spray for greasing
Instructions
- Cook sausage until browned; drain.
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and add cubed bread.
- Layer cooked sausage, bell peppers, and green onions over bread.
- Whisk eggs, milk, mustard, salt, and pepper; pour evenly over layers.
- Top with shredded cheese.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight.
- Next morning, let rest at room temperature 20 minutes.
- Bake uncovered at 350°F for 45–55 minutes until golden and set.
- Cool 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
