- 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon butter
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, ketchup, salt, and pepper. Mix just until combined.
- Shape the mixture into oval patties about 3/4 inch thick.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and brown the patties on both sides. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add butter, onions, and mushrooms; sauté until golden.
- Stir in flour and cook 1 minute, then slowly whisk in beef broth.
- Simmer until thickened, then return patties to the skillet.
- Cover and simmer 10–15 minutes until fully cooked.
- Serve hot with mashed potatoes or noodles, topped with fresh parsley.
Notes
- Use 80/20 beef for best juiciness.
- To make ahead, store cooked patties in gravy up to 3 days.
- For a lighter version, use lean ground beef or turkey.
