Description

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Fresh parsley for garnish


Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, ketchup, salt, and pepper. Mix just until combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into oval patties about 3/4 inch thick.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and brown the patties on both sides. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add butter, onions, and mushrooms; sauté until golden.
  5. Stir in flour and cook 1 minute, then slowly whisk in beef broth.
  6. Simmer until thickened, then return patties to the skillet.
  7. Cover and simmer 10–15 minutes until fully cooked.
  8. Serve hot with mashed potatoes or noodles, topped with fresh parsley.

Notes

  1. Use 80/20 beef for best juiciness.
  2. To make ahead, store cooked patties in gravy up to 3 days.
  3. For a lighter version, use lean ground beef or turkey.
  4. Freeze leftovers up to 3 months.
