Instructions
- Chill a medium mixing bowl in the refrigerator for a few minutes to help the cream whip quickly.
- Add the heavy whipping cream, hot cocoa mix, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract to the chilled bowl.
- Beat the mixture with a hand mixer until it forms soft or stiff peaks, depending on how fluffy you want the whipped topping.
- Pour the whole milk and half-and-half into a small saucepan.
- Warm the milk mixture over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until it is steaming but not boiling.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and taste the milk, adjusting sweetness if needed.
- Pour the hot milk mixture into a heat-safe mug.
- Spoon a generous amount of the whipped chocolate topping over the hot milk.
- Garnish the drink with mini marshmallows, crushed candy canes, or chocolate shavings if desired.

- For a lighter drink, use 2% milk instead of whole milk or skip the half-and-half.
