Description

This baked cream cheese chicken is a comforting oven-baked dinner made with tender chicken breasts smothered in a smooth garlic cream cheese sauce. It’s easy to prepare, rich without being heavy, and perfect for a cozy family meal.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Season the chicken breasts on both sides with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sear the chicken for 2–3 minutes per side until lightly golden.
  4. Transfer the seared chicken breasts to the prepared baking dish.
  5. In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and cook briefly until fragrant.
  6. Pour in the chicken broth and simmer for 1–2 minutes, scraping up any browned bits.
  7. Lower the heat and stir in the softened cream cheese until smooth.
  8. Stir in the chopped chives and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
  9. Pour the cream cheese sauce evenly over the chicken breasts.
  10. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top if using.
  11. Bake for 25–30 minutes, until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
  12. Optional: broil for 2–3 minutes to lightly brown the top.
  13. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  1. For extra brightness, add a small squeeze of lemon juice to the sauce.
  2. Make sure the cream cheese is fully softened to avoid a grainy sauce.
  3. Reheat leftovers gently with a splash of broth to keep the sauce smooth.
