Chicken Alfredo Tater Tot Casserole

  • Author: Mohamed Ayad
  • Total Time: 55 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Description

A creamy, cheesy Chicken Alfredo Tater Tot Casserole made with shredded chicken, Alfredo sauce, mozzarella, parmesan, and a crispy golden tater tot topping. It is an easy baked comfort dinner for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (32 oz) bag frozen tater tots
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1 jar (14.5 to 15 oz) Alfredo sauce
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups frozen peas or broccoli
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes, optional
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, stir together the Alfredo sauce, sour cream, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
  3. Fold in the shredded cooked chicken and frozen peas or broccoli until evenly coated in the Alfredo mixture.
  4. Spread the chicken Alfredo mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese and parmesan cheese evenly over the filling.
  6. Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single even layer over the cheese, covering the top of the casserole.
  7. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, until the tater tots are golden brown and the filling is bubbling around the edges.
  8. Remove from the oven and let the casserole rest for about 5 minutes before serving.
  9. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  1. Keep the tater tots frozen until you arrange them on top so they bake up crisp.
  2. Cut broccoli into small pieces if using frozen broccoli so it heats evenly in the filling.
  3. A thicker Alfredo sauce works best because the casserole releases moisture as it bakes.
  4. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving so the creamy filling can settle.
  5. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
