Description

Creamy chicken pillows are a comforting family dinner made with seasoned shredded chicken and cream cheese wrapped in crescent dough, baked until golden, and served with warm chicken gravy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 ounces cooked, shredded chicken breast
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon salted butter, softened
  • 1/2 tablespoon dried chives
  • 1/2 tablespoon dried minced onion
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 can (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1/4 cup salted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup Italian breadcrumbs
  • 1 can (10 ounces) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 packet (1 ounce) chicken gravy mix
  • 3/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease a baking sheet.
  2. In a bowl, mix the cream cheese and softened butter until smooth, then stir in the shredded chicken, chives, onion, salt, and pepper.
  3. Unroll the crescent dough and press two triangles together to form one rectangle, sealing the perforations.
  4. Divide the chicken mixture evenly and place it in the center of each dough rectangle.
  5. Fold the corners of the dough over the filling, sealing completely and shaping into a pillow.
  6. Dip each pillow into melted butter, then coat evenly with breadcrumbs.
  7. Place the coated pillows on the prepared baking sheet and bake until golden brown.
  8. While the pillows bake, combine the soup, gravy mix, and water in a saucepan and simmer until smooth.
  9. Serve the baked chicken pillows warm with gravy spooned over the top.

Notes

  1. Seal the dough well to prevent filling from leaking during baking.
  2. Rotisserie chicken works well and saves time.
  3. Wait to add breadcrumbs until just before baking if assembling ahead.
