Description
Creamy chicken pillows are a comforting family dinner made with seasoned shredded chicken and cream cheese wrapped in crescent dough, baked until golden, and served with warm chicken gravy.
Ingredients
Scale
- 10 ounces cooked, shredded chicken breast
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 tablespoon salted butter, softened
- 1/2 tablespoon dried chives
- 1/2 tablespoon dried minced onion
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 1 can (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 1/4 cup salted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup Italian breadcrumbs
- 1 can (10 ounces) cream of chicken soup
- 1 packet (1 ounce) chicken gravy mix
- 3/4 cup water
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease a baking sheet.
- In a bowl, mix the cream cheese and softened butter until smooth, then stir in the shredded chicken, chives, onion, salt, and pepper.
- Unroll the crescent dough and press two triangles together to form one rectangle, sealing the perforations.
- Divide the chicken mixture evenly and place it in the center of each dough rectangle.
- Fold the corners of the dough over the filling, sealing completely and shaping into a pillow.
- Dip each pillow into melted butter, then coat evenly with breadcrumbs.
- Place the coated pillows on the prepared baking sheet and bake until golden brown.
- While the pillows bake, combine the soup, gravy mix, and water in a saucepan and simmer until smooth.
- Serve the baked chicken pillows warm with gravy spooned over the top.
Notes
- Seal the dough well to prevent filling from leaking during baking.
- Rotisserie chicken works well and saves time.
- Wait to add breadcrumbs until just before baking if assembling ahead.
