Description

These easy cinnamon apples are soft, warm, and gently spiced, made on the stovetop with simple pantry ingredients. Perfect as a cozy breakfast topping, light dessert, or comforting side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 apples, chopped (about 3 cups)
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon salted butter
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Add the chopped apples and water to a skillet and cook over medium heat until the apples begin to soften.
  2. Stir in the butter and continue cooking until the apples are glossy and tender.
  3. Add the maple syrup, cinnamon, salt, and vanilla, stirring until evenly coated.
  4. Cook a few more minutes until the apples reach your desired softness, then remove from heat and serve.

Notes

  1. Peeling the apples is optional depending on your texture preference.
  2. Use firmer apples like Honeycrisp or Pink Lady for best results.
  3. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to five days.
