Description

These homemade pizza burgers combine juicy ground beef, rich pizza sauce, and melted mozzarella on toasted buns for a comforting, easy dinner the whole family loves.


Ingredients

  • 10 oz ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/3 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, pressed
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 8 oz pizza sauce
  • 4 hamburger buns, split
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 420°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook the chopped onion until softened.
  3. Add the garlic and ground beef, breaking it up and cooking until no longer pink.
  4. Season with Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper, then stir in the pizza sauce.
  5. Let the mixture simmer until thick and well combined.
  6. Place the split buns cut-side up on the baking sheet and spoon the meat mixture evenly over each half.
  7. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  8. Bake until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly and the buns are lightly toasted.

Notes

  1. The meat and sauce mixture can be made up to 2 days in advance and refrigerated.
  2. To prevent soggy buns, use a thick pizza sauce and let the filling reduce well.
  3. Leftovers keep well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat best in the oven.
