15-Minute Honey Garlic Chicken

  • Author: Mohamed Ayad
  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

Sticky, glossy honey garlic chicken made in one skillet with a sweet-savory sauce. A fast, reliable weeknight dinner that tastes better than takeout.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil (or canola oil)
  • 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into small cubes
  • Salt and black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Cooked rice, green onions, sesame seeds, chopped peanuts, lime wedges (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  2. Season chicken lightly with salt and pepper and add to the hot pan in a single layer.
  3. Brown chicken on one side until golden, then turn.
  4. Whisk honey, soy sauce, garlic, and red pepper flakes and add to the pan.
  5. Cook, tossing, until chicken is cooked through and sauce turns glossy and sticky.
  6. Remove from heat and serve over rice with desired toppings.

Notes

  1. If the sauce does not thicken, add a small cornstarch slurry during the last minute.
  2. Doubling the sauce works well if serving with extra rice.
  3. Store leftovers with the sauce and reheat gently to avoid drying out.
