  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

Small crispy-edged Cinnamon French Toast Bites coated in warm cinnamon sugar and served with maple syrup for dipping. Quick skillet breakfast ready in about 15 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 thick slices white bread, crust removed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • Maple syrup, for serving

Instructions

  1. Cut the crust off the bread slices and cut each slice into 9 cubes.
  2. Whisk eggs, milk, and salt together in a medium bowl.
  3. Mix sugar and cinnamon together in a shallow bowl.
  4. Melt 1 1/2 tablespoons butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Quickly toss half the bread cubes in the egg mixture and shake off excess liquid.
  6. Cook the bread cubes in the skillet for 2 to 3 minutes, turning often until browned on all sides.
  7. Transfer the hot bread cubes directly into the cinnamon sugar mixture and toss to coat.
  8. Repeat with remaining butter and bread cubes.
  9. Serve immediately with maple syrup for dipping.

Notes

  1. Use slightly stale bread for the best texture.
  2. Do not soak the bread cubes too long in the egg mixture.
  3. Cook in batches to avoid overcrowding the skillet.
  4. Serve immediately while the coating is still crisp.
