Instructions
- Whisk the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder together in a large bowl.
- Grate the frozen butter and gently mix it into the flour mixture until pea-sized crumbs form.
- Whisk the heavy cream, egg, and vanilla in a separate bowl.
- Pour the wet ingredients over the dry ingredients, add the mix-ins, and gently combine until a shaggy dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently shape into an 8-inch disc.
- Cut into wedges and place on a lined baking sheet.
- Brush the tops with cream and sprinkle with coarse sugar if desired.
